An extraordinary year for rice farmers

The third crop is going in. All is green and muddy and lush. Birds and frogs are everywhere. The weather is a treat compared to last year’s scorched-desert climate and its single withered rice crop. Sugar cane and marigolds, our other local crops, grow enthusiastically no matter how extreme the climate.
